I had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago. Lying in one position and unable to walk while recovering has given me a new love for this first miracle in Jesus’ ministry according to Mark.
Everyone is doing what is expected: Jesus is proclaiming the kingdom as the Gospel writer prepared us. The crowd–like crowds today–were trying to get whatever they could from the one they thought could provide it for them. The paralytic had some friends and they were good, going to great lengths to have Jesus change the man’s life.
