How Do You Do It?
Read John 5:19-24
Reflect
I guess with seven children (two in my mature years) and numerous foster babies, I get asked that question a lot. To my embarrassment, I must admit I used to have answers – the things I did, ways I organized, little tricks I had learned. Thankfully, the Father saved me from myself and brought me to a place where finally I said, “I can’t do this! I can’t even get two boys to bed!”
“Great,” He said. “Finally.” “Of course you can’t do it, but I can.”
How encouraging it is to see Jesus being asked the same question. His answer in John 5:19 is: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing.” And just look at what his Father (my Father) does – he raises the dead (John 5:21)!
When I am dependent on Him, I can “marvel and be full of wonder and astonishment” (John 5:20, Amplified) at what He can accomplish in me every day – even getting two boys to bed!
