It’s Just Jesus

Read   Mark 6:1-13

Reflect
“Isn’t this the carpenter?  Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?”  And they took offense at him.  -Mark 6:3

It was an incident that stands out in our years of kid-raising.  Our son John was a senior in high school and had chosen to grow his hair down to his shoulders. (He, of course, looked abominable to his parents.  But who were we to object as not quite all the pictures of his father at his age had been successfully destroyed.)

When John volunteered to help out with Vacation Bible School that summer, Kari Jane (rather creatively I thought) suggested John’s appearance might help bring the character of Jesus to life for the little kids.  So she asked John if he would portray Jesus in one of the stories.  Read the rest of this entry »
