Hand It Over
Read Mark 6:30-46
Reflect
Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000 has always been an inspiring story for me, though not always for the right reasons. As a kid in Sunday school, it made me marvel in a super hero God who could pull off miracles for me. As a teenager I pretty well wrote the story off as one of those Bible fables meant to instruct the weak-minded with good moral direction.
But now, as an adult, and more importantly as one having a living relationship with the Author, I see a deeper meaning in this passage. Yes, Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes by performing a bona-fide miracle, but it was the disciples who took that miracle and ministered it directly to (engaged) the people.
