embarrassing ourselves, or doing/saying the wrong thing? Thanks for shining the light on this in a real way Liz. Okay, I'm ready to be stretched, I guess...

Absolutely the best women's retreat I have experienced! The openness and honest sharing of the elders wives created such an atmosphere of sharing and caring for each other that I have not seen at this depth. I left the door of my room open on Saturday afternoon and it soon filled up with women. I loved that! Just hanging out and being together and sharing life with each other. Many thanks to Diana and Jessica and especially the elders' wives for pouring yourselves into this retreat.

This is so neat. Thanks for sharing Keith! I have many fond memories of spending time with Jamie. I also realize, to my shame, he had dropped of my prayer list a while ago. It re-emphasizes the need for me to keep a good prayer journal !! Now that's a resolution for the new year ;-)

From one of my favorites: "I take very seriously the theological tension which exists between, on the one hand, the clear teaching of Scripture that we are dead in our sins and totally void of any ability to save ourselves (Eph. 2:1, Col. 1:21, 2:13; Lk. 15:24) and the universal call to the Gospel which requires us to “come” (Matt. 11:28), “repent”(Acts 2:38), “believe” (Acts 16:31) and a whole array of other commands, all of which call us to specific acts of faith and obedience. Since spiritually dead people have no capacity to respond, it is clear that God is bestowing grace in countless ways into our lives prior to our regeneration or conversion". so, at the same time, we are both totally depraved and vessels of the grace of God...what the early church called the "preparatio evangelica",
